- Hide Biography + Read BiographyProfessor John Magnussen is the Professor of Radiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Macquarie University and Head of the Academic Department at Macquarie Medical Imaging at Macquarie University Hospital. Furthermore, John is the Head of Cardiac and Neuro Imaging at Macquarie Medical Imaging and Specialist Medical Imaging. John graduated in Medicine from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) before completing a PhD in Nuclear Medicine and Biomedical Engineering, also at UNSW. He qualified in Radiology from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) where he remained until 2010 as Director of Research and Staff Specialist Radiologist in both Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. He has completed advanced training to be certified in CT Coronary Angiography.In 2010, John helped establish Macquarie Medical Imaging at Macquarie University Hospital, the first University Hospital in Australia, as the inaugural Head of Clinical Services and inaugural Professor of Radiology and now as the Academic Head of Medical Imaging and the Professor of Medical Imaging. He is leading the Neuro and Cardiac Imaging teams to new heights where MMI is now providing world-class clinical imaging and research. He has been conducting a wide range of ground breaking research in basic science and clinical research and presented at numerous national and international conferences.
