    Dr Elizabeth Shaw is an interventional specialist in cardiology and structural heart procedures, with a particular interest in women’s heart health and aortic stenosis.

    She completed her specialist training at Royal North Shore Hospital, after which she completed her interventional training at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. Recently, Dr Shaw has completed a two year structural heart fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in the United States.

    Dr Shaw has been a lecturer for The University of Sydney’s Medical School and a senior lecturer for The University of Queensland’s Medical school. Dr Shaw has delivered multiple presentations at both national and international conferences in her research area of coronary artery disease, Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy as well as the treatment of aortic stenosis.

    Dr Sumit Raniga is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a subspecialist orthopaedic shoulder and elbow surgeon with three years of dedicated post-fellowship training in world renowned centres of excellence. Dr Raniga provides the highest standard of contemporary care for complex shoulder and elbow problems. He specialises in shoulder and elbow reconstruction, arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) and arthroplasty (joint replacement surgery).

    With a background in molecular medicine, including gene therapy, as well as orthopaedic surgical sciences, including biomechanics Dr Raniga has a proven track record in cutting edge research with numerous publications in international peer reviewed journals. He is involved in developing and implementing a world class centre of excellence in shoulder and elbow research, that not only produces science that influences surgical practice, but also trains the academic surgeons of tomorrow.

    Dr Raniga’s second year of subspecialisation was at the Macquarie University Hospital with preeminent shoulder surgeon Associate Professor Desmond Bokor. Dr Bokor has earned a worldwide reputation in the management of shoulder instability in rugby players. Dr Raniga had the opportunity to gain greater insight and surgical expertise in the management of unstable shoulders, as well as further experience in arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery. He also carried out cutting edge biomechanical research which is in the process of publication in international peer reviewed journals.

    His time at Macquarie University Hospital allowed him to gain better understanding of the prevalence of particular shoulder and elbow problems in our community. He recognised the need to bring back advanced reconstruction techniques for high demand patients with unreparable rotator cuff tears that are too young to undergo shoulder replacement surgery, as well as further expertise in the diagnosis, management and surgical treatment elbow problems.

    Ben has recently returned from London having worked as a Consultant Surgeon in the NHS at Guy’s Hospital after completing the prestigious fellowships in Robotics at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and Adolescent/Transition Reconstructive Urology at University College London Hospital.

    Ben has a keen interest in technology; particularly robotic cancer surgery and reconstruction, advanced prostate cancer diagnostics, personalised care with enhanced utilisation of technology such as Urolift or Greenlight/Holmium laser prostate surgery and Adolescent Transition Urology for congenital disorders.

    Following undergraduate medical training at the University of Adelaide, Associate Professor Tillman Boesel moved to NSW in 1996, where he worked as a junior doctor at Liverpool Hospital. He subsequently qualified as a specialist anaesthetist through Royal Prince Alfred Hospital’s training scheme. Following his appointment as a staff specialist at the Nepean Hospital in 2004, he undertook further advanced training in pain medicine with a special focus on interventional treatments with Professor Raj Sundaraj.

    Associate Professor Boesel has held an academic appointment at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences since 2007. In addition to his academic position, he currently practices at Macquarie University Hospital, with private consulting in Penrith, North Ryde and Newtown. His special interests include neuropathic pain, interventional pain therapies and medical education.

    Dr Eva Wong is a Head & Neck Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist in Westmead Hospital. She is a staff specialist in Crown Princess Mary Westmead Cancer Care Centre and Visiting Medical Officer in Macquarie University Hospital, Blacktown, Westmead Private and Norwest Private Hospitals. She also participates in the acute surgical roster in Westmead and Blacktown Hospital. Dr Wong graduated with Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1994 and underwent Oral and Maxillofacial training in 1996. She completed her medical training in 2002 and undertook general surgical training in Westmead Hospital. Upon obtaining her surgical fellowship, she spent her post fellowship training in Head & Neck, Surgical Oncology Unit in Westmead Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital.


    She spent her final post fellowship training in London in the Sarcoma and Melanoma unit at The Royal Marsden Hospital where she acquired experience in the management of limb and retroperitoneal sarcoma. She was also trained in isolated limb perfusion for patients with advanced limb malignancy.


    Dr Wong has a special interest in the management of Head and Neck malignancy, in particular advanced and metastatic skin cancer, dentoalveloar and oropharyngeal pathology, thyroid, parathyroid and salivary gland neoplasm. Dr Wong’s research interests relate mainly to the management of Head & Neck cancer and soft tissue tumour. She is the primary investigator in a number of research projects as well as facilitator for melanoma tumour banking in Westmead Hospital. She is also the coordinator of a collaborative sarcoma research group between Westmead, Prince of Wales and the SAN hospitals.


    Dr Wong is a senior clinical lecturer for Sydney University. She participates as a tutor for surgical training program both in Westmead and Blacktown Hospital. Dr Wong is a demonstrator for Master of Surgery course and lecturer for Master of Dental surgery postgraduate students in the University of Sydney. She is the Royal Australasian College surgical training supervisor for Westmead Hospital and current supervisor of Head & Neck/ENT surgical senior residents in Westmead Hospital.

    Dr Ahmed Hussein is a Consultant Endocrinologist at  Macquarie University Hospital and Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital and holds a visiting Endocrinologist role at Norwest Private Hospital.  He has a particular interest in thyroid diseases, andrology and weight management and is highly trained in managing other Endocrinology disorders including diabetes, pituitary disease, high-risk Diabetes foot, osteoporosis, and adrenal disorders.


    He completed his Physician and Endocrinology training at Liverpool, Blacktown and Bankstown hospitals.  He has also been involved in various teaching and research roles and is undertaking a postgraduate research degree with Western Sydney University.  He is professionally affiliated with the Royal Australian College of Physicians, the Endocrine Society of Australia, and the Australian Diabetes Society.
