Professor John Magnussen is the Professor of Radiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Macquarie University and Head of the Academic Department at Macquarie Medical Imaging at Macquarie University Hospital. Furthermore, John is the Head of Cardiac and Neuro Imaging at Macquarie Medical Imaging and Specialist Medical Imaging. John graduated in Medicine from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) before completing a PhD in Nuclear Medicine and Biomedical Engineering, also at UNSW. He qualified in Radiology from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) where he remained until 2010 as Director of Research and Staff Specialist Radiologist in both Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. He has completed advanced training to be certified in CT Coronary Angiography.

In 2010, John helped establish Macquarie Medical Imaging at Macquarie University Hospital, the first University Hospital in Australia, as the inaugural Head of Clinical Services and inaugural Professor of Radiology and now as the Academic Head of Medical Imaging and the Professor of Medical Imaging. He is leading the Neuro and Cardiac Imaging teams to new heights where MMI is now providing world-class clinical imaging and research. He has been conducting a wide range of ground breaking research in basic science and clinical research and presented at numerous national and international conferences.

Dr Rogan graduated in Medicine from the University of NSW in 2002 with First Class Honours. He was a Neurosurgery registrar at Nepean Hospital and RPAH and completed Basic Surgical Training prior to entering radiology. Over the next 5 years, he trained in Radiology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, spending his senior registrar year after completing the fellowship exam focussed on interventional radiology and MRI.  Subsequently, Chris was the Fellow in Interventional Radiology at Imperial College in London based at Hammersmith and St Mary’s Hospitals.He is currently a Staff Specialist at RPAH with a focus on Interventional Oncology, Angioplasty and Stenting, Embolisation and Endovascular procedures. He is also a VMO at Macquarie University Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Vein Clinic and Sydney Adventist Hospital. He is involved in publications, research, education and other academic activities and plays an active role in the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia, currently as an organiser for its 2015 Annual Scientific Meeting. 

Dr Rogan is Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University. He has special interests in Interventional Oncology, liver disease, peripheral vascular disease and varicose vein treatments. He is currently investigating the use of Intra-Arterial Isolation Chemotherapy to treat liver and pancreatic cancers.
