Dr Deborah Cheung, breast-oncoplastic surgeon, obtained her medical degree in 1993 at the University of Sydney and obtained her FRACS in 2001. Dr Cheung completed her training at the Surgical Oncology unit at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.
Over the years she has visited many international institutions to learn from renowned surgeons including those at Harvard Medical School, UCLA, Milan and London. Her expertise in breast surgery includes skin sparing and nipple sparing mastectomies; oncoplastic breast conservation, immediate and delayed, prosthetic and autologous breast reconstruction; breast reduction and lift surgery, and breast symmetrisation surgery.
Dr Cheung now works from the Clinical Care Centre at Macquarie University Hospital. She is one of the first few Australian breast surgeons experienced in oncoplastic techniques.
Dr Cheung understands that making decisions about breast surgery is highly personal and anxiety provoking, and she is dedicated in the provision of the latest evidence-based methods to tailor her approach to suit each individual. Dr Cheung is very pleased to be part of the multidisciplinary breast cancer team at Macquarie University Hospital. This comprehensive and coordinated service provides immediate assessment and surgical planning in collaboration with Macquarie Medical Imaging, offering same day mammograms, breast ultrasounds and biopsies.
