Dr Jonathan Williamson MBBS(Hons) PhD FRACP

Trained in Sydney, Perth and Heidelberg, Germany, Dr Williamson is a Respiratory and Sleep physician who commenced consulting at Macquarie University Hospital and Clinic in early 2012 as part of the Macquarie Respiratory and Sleep group.

Dr Williamson’s practice covers a wide range of respiratory and sleep pathologies including asthma, COPD, lung and airway infections, sleep disorders and lung cancer.  He developed an interest in interventional procedures whilst training at Royal North Shore Hospital and further developed this interest at St Vincents Hospital, Darlinghurst in the lung transplant unit, and at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth completing a bronchoscopy-based PhD in 2010.

Since returning to Sydney, Dr Williamson has been based at Liverpool Hospital where he is establishing an interventional bronchoscopy unit for advanced diagnostic and therapeutic airway procedures. Dr Williamson list of procedures includes endobronchial ultrasound, rigid bronchoscopy for management of central airway obstruction, YAG-laser, cryotherapy, argon plasma coagulation, endobronchial lung volume reduction for management of emphysema and airway stent insertion for palliation of obstructing lung tumours.

Professor Michael Wilson is a leading cardiothoracic surgeon at Macquarie University Hospital. Graduating from Sydney University in 1984, he went on to complete his FRACS in general and cardiothoracic surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Professor Wilson then travelled overseas where he completed a Fellowship in Transplantation Surgery at Stanford University Hospital and a Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Toronto General Hospital. Professor Wilson has diverse interests in most aspects of cardiothoracic surgery from ischaemic heart disease; including heart failure requiring SVR MV repair CAGS and CRT therapies, to aortic and valvular heart disease with recent experience in transcatheter aortic valves and minimally invasive mitral surgery. He also has significant clinical experience with mechanical assist devices. Thoracic surgery has been an active interest of Dr Wilson, with contributions in thoracic oncology.

Eva has been a prominent figure in mammography for nearly 25 years. In 1988 she helped establish the first ever breast screening program in Australia, which led to the National Breast Screen Programme. She has also helped establish the breast screen programme in New Zealand, and Otago University's mammography course. Eva has carried out numerous mammography and stereotactic biopsy training programs around Australia and Internationally, and she is the co-author of the mammography positioning book "Mammography Today".

Dr Wiseman is a female specialist gastroenterologist who has private rooms in Eastwood. She performs procedures at Macquarie University Hospital where she charges no gap for patients who have medical insurance. She also works with the liver clinic team at Concord Hospital to provide specialist liver care and is a Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University. She has an interest in treating patients with liver disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and those requiring bowel cancer screening.

Associate Professor Andy Yong (MBBS, PhD, FRACP, FCSANZ, FACC) is a general and interventional cardiologist who graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney in 2002, and completed cardiology training at Concord Hospital in 2007. After the award of a PhD degree, Dr Yong undertook a 2 year postdoctoral and clinical interventional cardiology fellowship at Stanford University Medical Centre. He has published over 100 research papers, book chapters and abstracts, and was recently awarded the National Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship. Dr Yong has served as an invited faculty speaker at various international and local meetings including the American College of Cardiology and CSANZ conferences.  He is a Staff Specialist at Concord Hospital and also has admitting rights at Royal Prince Alfred, Macquarie University and Strathfield Private Hospitals. He is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, and speaks conversational Malay/Indonesian. Dr Yong is a strong believer in good communication with his patients and their family members.

Dr Ian Yuen grew up in Sydney on the north shore and studied medicine at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 2002. He chose Orthopaedic surgery for his speciality after an internship and residency at the Royal North Shore Hospital. Dr Yuen was awarded a fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2012. He has subsequently completed numerous prestigious international fellowships in the subspecialty of hand and wrist surgery. Dr Yuen spent six months at the National University Hospital, Singapore studying hand and reconstructive microsurgery with Emeritus Professor Robert Pho and Associate Professor Aymeric Lim. He spent the following seven months at The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London to further his expertise in this field. Dr Yuen has also spent time at the Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, India working with Dr Raja Sabapathy and in Hong Kong working with Dr PC Ho, a leading specialist in Wrist Arthroscopy.

Dr Yuen returned to Sydney to set up practice with the Macquarie Hand Unit and participates in regular on call and teaching junior staff at The Sydney Adventist Hospital. Dr Yuen has a particular interest and training in acute and chronic fractures and ligament injuries around the hand/wrist as well as Dupuytren’s disease (both surgical and minimally invasive management with Collagenase). General hand surgery such as carpal tunnel, trigger fingers and hand/wrist trauma also makes up a large part of his work. Dr Yuen is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Australian Hand Surgery Society and the NSW Hand Surgery Association.
