We are currently seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to manage the Intensive Care / Coronary Care Unit, commencing in 2018.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the successful candidate will be required to have extensive exposure to high acuity nursing with proven experience managing staff. The successful candidate will be required to plan, analyse, design, monitor and provide advice on nursing issues, to assist in the development of a workforce strategic plan and to facilitate changes to staffing and models of care to ensure innovative, effective and efficient service delivery in collaboration with management.

This position will be responsible for supervising and supporting the Nurse Unit Manager ICU/CCU Level 1 in the provision of efficient and effective operating services that achieve optimal patient outcomes, including, ensuring delivery of high quality nursing care in accordance with legislative requirements and professional guidelines. The NUM will promote a culture that embraces best practice and identifies, evaluates and incorporates appropriate emerging trends in the practice of the clinical disciplines within the unit.

    • Demonstrate and lead others in the delivery of good nursing care and customer service
    • Demonstrate and lead others in recording and communicating essential information to nursing colleagues, doctors and other health professionals
    • Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement and takes an active role in the ISO Certification process to meet ISO9001 standards incorporating Core Standards for Safety and Quality and willingness to initiate and contribute to quality activities
    • Demonstrate extensive clinical and operational management experience at a senior level within a Critical Care Environment and holds a Critical Care Certificate
    • Adept at fostering positive working relationships
    • Ability to identify and analyse options and make informed decisions
    • Computer literacy
